The discipline is the oldest established university facility in the speech-language pathology and audiology in the country. Their Speech Pathologists and Audiologists complete courses which include the study of normal hearing, speech, and language development, speech physiology and perception, the nature of language, speech and hearing disorders in children and adults …. and others.
They offer a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Therapy which is aimed at improving the communication abilities in children and adults who have speech or voice language problems.
Speech Therapy looks at the assessment and treatment of disorders such as stuttering or articulation defects. Students will get to do their practicals at clinics during the degree.
Once the degree is completed students will be able to open their own private practice and deal with speech and language disorders as well as the rehabilitation of stroke and brain damaged patients.
